Two axes

Humanities

We study how findings become public policy, concrete intervention and accountability. Example: our partnership with MPTO on electricity providers' responsibility for historical tree cover loss caused by improper tree pruning.

AI

We develop the artificial intelligence model behind UrbanAI: train, validate and document how it detects intra-urban thermal anomalies, measures their intensity and identifies who is most affected.

What we look for

People who can read critically, organize evidence and write clearly. For the AI axis, we also expect interest in data, models and programming.

Software

What you will do

Build and maintain the artificial intelligence platform that makes the UrbanAI model usable, plus the digital services that keep the operation running: email, domain, databases and integrations.

What we look for

Strong technical foundations, a willingness to learn and care for code and systems that other people will need to understand and maintain.

Marketing & Communications

What you will do

Explain our work without distorting the research, produce content, manage our social presence and maintain dialogue with communities, the press and partners.

What we look for

People who write well, verify before publishing and can explain a difficult subject without exaggeration.

A small, multidisciplinary and remote team

Researchers, developers, communicators and educators work together across different cities and time zones. New members take part in decisions, receive guidance and own a concrete part of the work.

How it works

The work is volunteer-based, remote and flexible, requiring up to four hours a week. Before officially joining, there is a short period to learn the routine and see whether the collaboration works for both sides. Full terms are shared with anyone who receives an offer to join and wants to accept it.

Work that opens doors

People who have worked with EcoAction contributed to real research, products and communication. They later moved on to universities in Brazil and abroad with a portfolio, team experience and the confidence that comes from owning important deliverables.
